On July 14, 1952, the first crispy fresh loaves emerged from the oven of Bakker Willem Wiltink. Now, the third generation is at the helm, and we bake artisan bread on a large scale every day for bakeries, supermarkets, and wholesalers. THE FIRST 20 LOAVES
On July 14, 1952, our grandfather Willem Wiltink baked his first 20 loaves. He did everything himself. From baking bread to delivering it door-to-door on his transport bike. A year later, he built a house with a shop in front of the bakery. And he also started supplying bread to institutions, hospitals, and so-called “cold bakers.” The great thing was, he opened his bakery in a place where there was no residential area yet, no market. The choice to establish himself there turned out to be a bull’s-eye. That entrepreneurship still typifies us; antennae in the market, listening to intuition, and with a good feeling, go!
BREAD IN OUR DNA
Later, we also started supplying supermarkets and catering companies. The size of the company increased, and the bread turnover rose enormously. In the 1980s, the second generation of Wiltink entered the bakery. The passion had been passed on, it seems bread is in our DNA. Production continued to rise, and we made various acquisitions. We had earned our place in the market. In 2010, a new artisan bakery was built on the Wiltink site, where work is according to the latest standards and requirements. And we began working in the Innovation lab. The ambition and growth were far from over.
THE GLUTEN-FREE BAKERY
In order to also serve the group of consumers who want, or have to, eat less or no gluten, we opened our completely gluten-free bakery in 2014 and immediately started baking our fresh gluten-free bread called YAM daily. This is in line with our mission to let everyone enjoy this beautiful natural product. In addition to bread, we now have a wide range of delicious gluten-free treats such as cake, muffins, cookies, speculaas, and pastries.
